Ray Allen 'Prepared' to Miss Entire 2011 NBA Season If Necessary Ray Allen is never afraid to take a deep shot on the basketball court. Now he's going for the long ball in the courtroom, as the record holder in 3-point shooting says he isn't afraid to miss the 2011 NBA season.

"Nobody wants to miss a year," Allen said prior to an appearance at the University of Connecticut, accoring to The Associated Press. "But I'm prepared to do what the team needs me to do, what my players association, players union team, what they need me to do, because we want to make sure we get the right deal for us."

That's a bold statement for a 36-year-old and 16-year veteran to make, but according to the AP report, retirement is not something he's considering.

Why should he? After playing more minutes in 2010 (2,890) than in any of his previous seasons with the Celtics, there's no reason to think he should hang it up if the NBA misses the season.

In fact, in 2010, he scored his second-highest point total (1,321) since joining the Celtics in 2007, and he recorded the highest field-goal percentage (49.1 percent) and 3-point percentage (44.4) of his career.

"I always, typically, come up here in September anyway," he said. "But obviously, due to not being able to work out in my gym, this is my gym of choice."
