Even though the Red Sox failed to make the playoffs in 2010, Fenway still earned its fair share of historic and unusual moments.
The festivities started on New Year's Day in 2010, when the Bruins took on the Flyers in the NHL's Winter Classic. Fenway later hosted a college hockey doubleheader, as Northeastern and UNH's women's teams squared off and Boston College and Boston University's men's teams faced each other.
The Red Sox kicked off their 2010 season in style against the Yankees. The game featured fireworks, fighter jets, Steven Tyler and Neil Diamond.
But injuries plagued the Sox for most of the season, and even Jon Lester's 19-9 record wasn't enough to help the team make the postseason. Darnell McDonald and Daniel Nava were among the minor leaguers who arrived in Boston with a bang, but the Sox finished third in the AL East behind the Rays and Yankees.
While no momentous changes were made to Boston's ballpark, Fenway's left-field seating areas were improved with new additions, including new dugout, field box, and loge box seats.
Fenway Park also hosted other non-baseball events in 2010, including the premier of The Town, Christmas at Fenway and a soccer match.
