Josh Beckett Says He Just Hasn’t Made Pitches When Needed

The Red Sox needed a strong performance out of Josh Beckett on Monday night in Baltimore, as they continued to try and hold off the Rays in the American League wild-card race. Unfortunately, he wasn't exactly as lights out as the team had hoped.

Beckett allowed six earned runs in six innings on Monday as the Sox fell to the O's 6-3. The Sox and Rays are now deadlocked when it comes to the AL wild card after the Rays picked up a 5-2 victory over the Yankees.

Following the loss, Beckett said that he just hasn't made pitches when he's needed too, which has become a common theme for Sox starters during the month of September.
