Kevin Youkilis won't be helping his Red Sox teammates fend off the Rays on Friday night in Tampa.

Jed Lowrie will take over at third base for the Sox' usual cleanup hitter and bat seventh, while Dustin Pedroia will take over in the No. 4 slot behind Adrian Gonzalez, who received the day off on Thursday in Toronto.

Gonzo has two doubles in three career at-bats against Rays starter Wade Davis. Davis is looking for his 10th win of the season while Sox starter John Lackey will be gunning for his 13th.
