Twenty-year-old reserve striker Nathan Eccleston has landed in hot water with club officials after he tweeted, "I aint going to say attack don't let the media make u believe that was terrorist that did it.”
A club spokesperson told the Daily Mail, "The club takes this matter extremely seriously and senior club officials have informed Nathan Eccleston that we are undertaking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding these postings and will decide on an appropriate course of action."
Eccleston has been been trying to break into the Liverpool team for the better part of two years. He's made nine appearances for the first team, with the bulk of them coming in Carling Cup and Europa League action.
He's had loan spells at Huddersfield Town (one goal in 12 appearances in the 2009-10 season) and Charlton Athletic (three in 21 during the 2010-11 campaign).
You can debate Eccleston's claims all you want. It is undeniable that frequent commenter @africanlegnd was right: some athletes just cannot handle the responsibility of being on Twitter.
