Ozzie Guillen Reveals Nature of ‘Painful Conversation’ With Jerry Reinsdorf, Says He Wants More Money

Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has made himself a household name thanks in large part to his big personality and his willingness to speak his mind whenever he feels like it. He's up to his old tricks again, and it has to do with his future as the skipper on Chicago's South Side.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Guillen had a meeting with White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, of which the manager revealed the contents of.

"I just told him how I feel,"said Guillen. "I don't want to come back here without a contract. It was a painful conversation."

The controversial manager is signed through 2012, but he has said he doesn't want to return unless he receives a new contract.

"[Expletive] more years, I want more money," he said. "Life is about money. People are happy when they make a lot of money.

"I give them a lot of headaches," he continued, stating the obvious. "Maybe more headaches than satisfaction. But I think I did some good things, too."

The White Sox entered Monday with a 677-617 record in their eight years under Guillen, with him leading the club to a 2005 World Series title. However, Chicago failed to live up to expectations this season, entering its final series of the season five games under .500 and obviously out of playoff contention — for the third straight year.

"They should fire me," Guillen told reporters, according to USA Today. "I had a great team and they played like [expletive]. They have all the right to move on. I take that responsibility."

Further complicating matters is the fact that Guillen's name has been mentioned in connection with the Marlins' managerial position. Current Marlins manager Jack McKeon announced on Monday that he will be retiring following this season.
