The Red Sox will open the 2012 season at Detroit on April 5, part of a season-opening six-game road trip.

After series against the Tigers and Toronto Blue Jays, Boston returns home for its opener at Fenway Park on April 13 against Tampa Bay. The New York Yankees make their first visit one week later when the organization will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the park's opening.

The Yankees also come to Fenway for three games July 6-8, the final series before the All-Star break, and again Sept. 11-13. The Red Sox do not visit New York until July 27 for three games. They return to the Bronx from Aug. 17-19 and again for the final series of the regular season, Oct. 1-3.

The interleague schedule begins May 18 with the opener of a three-game series in Philadelphia. The Sox then host the Washington Nationals from June 8-10 before heading to Miami to visit the Marlins' new stadium and then to Chicago to play three more at Wrigley Field.

The Marlins and Atlanta Braves are part of a homestand that begins June 19.

Boston's longest homestand of the season runs from July 30-Aug. 8, featuring 10 games against Detroit, Texas and Minnesota. Its longest road trip is a 10-gamer that comes on the heels of that homestand.

From Aug. 9 through Sept. 5, the Red Sox play 19 of 26 games on the road, including visits to New York and each of the three West Coast teams.
