Red Sox pitcher John Lackey has filed for divorce from his wife, Krista, after nearly three years of marriage, according to a report on TMZ.
The report claims Lackey filed on Aug. 30, saying “the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities.” Lackey told reporters during spring training that his wife was battling breast cancer.
Lackey pitched for Boston in New York on Sunday night. After the game, he expressed frustration about a text message he received before his start.
“Thirty minutes before the game,” Lackey told the reporters assembled at his locker, “I got a text message on my cell phone from one of you, somebody in the media, talking about personal stuff. And I shouldn’t even be standing up here having to deal with this. I [was] sitting here listening to music. I don’t know who got my phone number. That’s over the line.”
