The general consensus all week was that Rams running back Steven Jackson would not play against the Giants on Monday Night Football. That consensus is apparently correct.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday that Jackson will be inactive for Monday night's game due to a quad injury that the running back suffered in Week 1.

Jackson only had two carries in a Week 1 loss to the Eagles. One of those carries went for a 47-yard touchdown, however.

Jackson was tight-lipped about his status all day on Monday, with just a quick Twitter update on Monday afternoon before heading to MetLife Stadium.

"Sorry guys I know I've been quiet today but I'm just trying to get ready for tonight," Jackson tweeted on Monday, about an hour before the news broke that he would not play. "Not sure if I'm playing [Monday night]. I'm heading to the stadium now to see if the quad will allow me to go. I've been waiting a long time for this moment. But more importantly I have to be smart about the season."
