If there are any Bruins players who plan on being content with last year's accomplishments, there will be at least one new face in camp willing to give them a run for their money — and their job.
Veteran winger Chris Clark has reportedly accepted an invitation to Bruins camp. Newsday's Katie Strang reported the news, and Clark's agent, Peter Fish, told The Boston Globe that his client will be in B's camp.
Clark, 35, collected 15 points in 53 games last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The winger was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 1994, where he made his NHL debut during the 1999-2000 season after spending four years at Clarkson University and another in the minors. He eventually moved on to play for Washington, where he became the team's captain.
Clark has battled injuries over the years (including last season), something that has limited his playing time as of late. However, if healthy, he could provide another veteran presence up front for the B's. The most difficult thing for Clark, though, will be cracking a forward unit that is already pretty deep, even before you factor in some of the younger talent that will make a push for jobs during camp.
As Kirk Luedeke pointed out on HockeyJournal.com, Clark is a New England native from South Windsor, Conn., who grew up with Bruins great Cam Neely as his favorite player.
