Richard Seymour Explains 'X' Hand Gesture, Says It's Because Raiders Defense is 'X-Rated' For the past eight years, doctors should have recommended that fans refrain from watching the Raiders for their own health. No good could come from watching that bumbling bunch, last year's 8-8 "breakthrough" included.

There's a new reason to avoid watching the Raiders, according to former Patriots defensive lineman Richard Seymour, although it has nothing to do with the team's performance after Sunday's win over the Jets helped Oakland improve to 2-1.

Minors may want to avert their eyes when the defense is on the field, Seymour said in explaining his cross-armed "X" gesture.

"When I throw up the 'X,' that means it's time to put the kids to bed," Seymour was quoted as saying by Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee. "It's X-rated out there. That means if you're 13 and under, don't watch this."

Five minutes after 1 p.m. Pacific time — when Sunday's game kicked off — is early for anybody to hit the hay. Seymour's point is taken, though. Judging by the garb some Raiders fans wear to O.co Coliseum, they could benefit from an afternoon nap to calm their 'roids.
