Russell Martin Admits 'Hate' for Red Sox, Says Helping to Eliminate Boston Would Be 'Awesome' Russell Martin hasn't been a Yankee for an entire season yet, but he's doing everything he can to keep the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry heated.

The New York catcher did what he could to endear himself to Yankees fans on Thursday afternoon when he opened up about his thoughts and feelings toward the Red Sox.

With Boston in town over for a three-game series over the weekend, Martin hopes that he and the Bombers can help bury the Sox for the 2011 season.

"Anything to get the Red Sox out would be awesome for me," Martin said, according to The Boston Globe's Amalie Benjamin. "I'd love to see them lose."

Martin certainly didn't hide how he personally felt about the Sox, either.

"I hate the Red Sox," he said, per Marc Carig of The Star-Ledger.

For what it's worth, Martin is hitting .257 this year against the Red Sox with three home runs and eight RBIs. Martin also had a big two-run double off of Daniel Bard in a crushing 4-2 win for the Yankees on Sept. 1.
