The Patriots' quarterback earned the recognition for the second straight week, the NFL announced Wednesday. Brady threw for 423 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday against San Diego, completing 77.5 percent of his 40 passes. In doing so, he became the first quarterback to follow a 500-plus-yard passing game by throwing for 400 or more yards the next week.
Through two games, Brady is currently on a ridiculous pace that would have him end the season with 504 completions (NFL record is 450), 7,520 yards (record is 5,084), 56 touchdowns (record is 50, owned by Brady) and just eight interceptions. Obviously, it'll be impossible to continue at such a pace, but Brady is off to the best start of his career.
Brady earned Player of the Week honors for the 19th time in his career, putting him just one behind Peyton Manning for most since the inception of the award. He is just the second player ever to earn player of the week honors in Weeks 1 and 2 of the same season, as kicker John Kasay was Special Teams Player of the Week in 1996 twice to open the season.
Can Brady make it three in a row? On Sunday, he'll face the Bills, who allowed Jason Campbell to throw for 323 yards in Week 2. You have to like Brady's chances.
