FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez said it's been frustrating to miss the team's last two games with a knee injury, but he's doing whatever he can to get back as soon as possible.

"I feel pretty good," Hernandez said Thursday right before returning to the practice field. "I'm just trying to get healthy, take it day by day."

Hernandez wouldn't tip his hand as to whether or not he'll return to action Sunday against the Jets, only noting that he's taking it "day by day," and he'll "see how it feels."

The second-year tight end got off to a blazing start with 14 receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns before tweaking his knee late in the Patriots' victory against the Chargers. He's still fourth on the team in receptions and receiving yards, and he's third in touchdown catches.

"It's always frustrating when you love the game," Hernandez said of missing time with and injury. "But I'm just taking it day by day, can't wait to get back."
