Andrew Luck Sweepstakes Spawns ‘Suck for Luck’ Board Game

The race for the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and the chance to draft Andrew Luck has jokingly been referred to as the “Suck for Luck” campaign.

The sports rhyme has caught stride, and though it’s never very much fun for the fan base of a franchise that is playing for slotting in the NFL draft, Sports Pickle makes fun of it (in more ways than one) by making it into a board game.

The rules are simple: “1. Using 1 die, take turns and proceed around the board from the start. 2. The first player to get to the finish, loses… and wins Andrew Luck!”

Although sweepstakes for a particular top overall pick are nothing new in sports, the board game takes a very current approach. Several spots on the board pay homage to several NFL teams that are flailing and failing in 2011.

The board game makes reference to Peyton Manning and the Colts in one spot that reads, “Your best player is injured. MOVE UP 3 SPACES.”

Just like any board game, though, there’s the possibility that it lasts entirely too long. Three spots before the finish, the board game makes fun of Broncos fans for their adoration of Tim Tebow, saying, “Your 2nd year QB has many flaws, but is seen as some sort of Football Messiah by local fans. MOVE BACK TO START.”

It’s not a strategic board game like Monopoly, but at the very least, it’s something to pass the time while you wait for your team to grind out another loss.
