It was only a matter of time before Ben Cherington officially took over as Boston's general manager. He was finally introduced as such at a press conference on Tuesday.

Cherington's been in the organization for years, working closely alongside Epstein, but it's always interesting to see how someone responds to the media at the introductory news conference. Jerry Remy was among those impressed with the composure shown by the new Sox GM.

Having been with the Red Sox since 1998, when he was hired as a mid-Atlantic scout, Cherington already knows the ins and outs of the organization, which Remy feels will allow him to be comfortable within his new position from the onset.
