"He is more mature and better educated now," the Liverpool manager said. "You have to be fair to everyone but he is happy to be around the place and play his part.
"He would certainly be much happier if he was playing more but he understands the situation maybe more than when he was younger. He knows everyone respects him here and that is a big thing for him. We give everyone the respect they deserve."
Bellamy returned to Anfield in August, moving from Manchester City on a free transfer. His on-field contributions -– two goals in five games and posing a constant threat to opposing defenders — have prompted supporters to call for his regular inclusion in the starting 11.
He first joined the Reds from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2006 and made 27 appearances, scoring seven goals in 2006-07. His stay would last for just one season, because he reportedly clashed with former manager Rafa Benitez over playing time and his best position in the team. He joined West Ham in the summer of 2007.
Dalglish gave Bellamy his first English Premier League start on Saturday against Norwich and the 32-year-old winger scored his first league goal. Deploying the veteran on the left wing has worked well for Dalglish and he insists Bellamy will continue to feature for his team this season.
"Craig has been brilliant," said Dalglish. "He just loves playing football and wants to play all the time. He will make a contribution for us. He's fantastic to have around.” He said.
