The biggest news on Sunday was nothing pertaining to the gridiron, but to the race track.

It didn’t take long for the racing community to show an outpouring of emotion over the tragic death of IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon, as many of racing’s most recognizable names took to Twitter with their reactions.

“Rest in peace Danny boy, we’ll miss you my friend,” tweeted two-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti. “Everyone please keep the wheldon family in you thoughts and prayers.”

Justin Wilson tweeted Monday morning that he was still thinking of Sunday’s events, but added, “Take heart from the fact Dan is trending world wide. Everybody he meet loved him.”
