FOXBORO, Mass. — Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth and tight end Aaron Hernandez practiced Friday for the second consecutive day, increasing their chances of being ready to play Sunday against the Jets at Gillette Stadium.
Haynesworth (back) and Hernandez (knee) have missed the Patriots' last two games, and Hernandez hadn't been on the field since hurting his knee in Week 2 against the Chargers. This is the first time since Week 2 that Haynesworth has practiced twice in one week.
Defensive lineman Mike Wright (concussion), who hasn't played since the season opener, also practiced for the second straight day, but his status is a little more unclear due to the nature of his injury. Players who suffer concussions have to be medically cleared for practice and then the game.
Linebacker Jerod Mayo (knee), running back Danny Woodhead (ankle), tackle Sebastian Vollmer (back) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (knee) did not practice all week, which means it's unlikely they'll play against the Jets. Mayo will reportedly miss four to six weeks with his injury.
The Patriots practiced in shorts and shells for the 12th time out of their 16 regular-season practices, not including walkthroughs.
