Joe Thornton the Only Player to Win Both Hart and Art Ross Trophies While Switching Teams in Same Year

Joe Thornton the Only Player to Win Both Hart and Art Ross Trophies While Switching Teams in Same YearIt's been nearly six years since the Bruins traded Joe Thornton to the San Jose Sharks, but it's still interesting every time Jumbo Joe returns to Boston.

What is also interesting is one of Thornton's accomplishments. The big forward won both the Hart Trophy and the Art Ross Trophy following the 2005-06 season, marking the only time that a player has accomplished that feat while switching teams that same year.

The Hart Trophy, of course, is awarded to the NHL's most valuable player, while the Art Ross Trophy is given to the player who scores the most points during the regular season.

Thornton got off to a hot start with the B's in 2005 and kept up his tremendous scoring pace throughout the rest of the season upon being dealt to the Sharks on Nov. 30 of that season. He compiled 92 points and helped the Sharks reach the postseason. They were eliminated in the second round by Edmonton, though.

For a select amount of Bruins games this season, NESN and The Four's will be teaming up to offer B's fans the chance at winning a $50 gift card to The Four's Restaurant and Sports Bar by simply answering a trivia question found at NESN.com/thefours. Questions will be posted at noon every afternoon on the day of a Bruins home game, unless otherwise noted.
