Joe Thornton Wins NESN Nation’s ‘Stomping Grounds’ Player of Game as Former Bruins Player World Tour Continues

We would’ve preferred that Joe Thornton‘s visit end more like Phil Kessel‘s did (with a loss), but at the very least it was an entertaining game.

The Bruins lose 4-2, but an empty net goal at the end belies what a close contest it turned out to be. Joe Thornton got the Sharks on the board early with an assist and made sure to help close the door on the Bruins as they threw everything they could at Antti Niemi in the San Jose goal.

That’s why, begrundgingly, NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Thornton the “Stomping Grounds” player of the game.

Until next time, worthy adversary. Until. Next. Time.
