ESPN reports that Barnes will appear on its broadcasts as a football analyst, adding to its roster of former players and managers.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed contributing to ESPN's football coverage periodically, and as a fan of the game have enjoyed watching what they put on air and the innovative approach they have brought to coverage," Barnes said.

"Having worked with Ray and the team as a part of ESPN's FA Cup presentation team last season, I am excited by what we can do to bring something distinctive to football fans."

The Jamaican-born Barnes played for the Reds from 1987-97. He was an integral part of the great Liverpool teams of the late 1980s, terrorizing opposing defenders from the left wing.

He was also an England regular during the 1980s and 1990s, appearing 79 times and scoring 11 goals.
