LeBron James was a busy man on Twitter on Monday night as NBA commissioner David Stern announced the league was forced to cancel its first two weeks of games.
James spent the evening retweeting tweets from fellow NBA superstars Steve Nash and Kevin Durant as well as adding his own thoughts in expressing remorse for the fans that the league's lockouts caused games to be canceled.
On Tuesday, though, James seemed ready to move on, and move on from the NBA. Kind of.
James tweeted at ESPN's NFL insider John Clayton on Tuesday afternoon asking a pretty telling question about the other league that has had a labor dispute this year.
"When is the deadline for a team to sign a free agent?" James asked.
Clayton responded by saying that free agency "goes until the last team is eliminated. Game on."
The ESPN personality was also kind enough to take on the role of adviser for James and offering him some suggestions about where to take his talents.
"LeBron, because you have some time and you were a WR, the 49ers just signed Brett Swain. You might check with Buffalo," Clayton tweeted.
He also had some helpful advice, too.
"LeBron, don't look at the Philadelphia Eagles. You're already on a Dream Team."
It's not the first time that James has toyed with the idea of playing football.
In 2009, King James reminded the world how great of an athlete he was when he boldy proclaimed that he could play in the NFL.
"If I put all my time and commitment into it, if I dedicated myself to the game of football, I could be really good, no matter what team I was on," James said at the time.
Apparently, he might have some takers, as then Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini admitted he thought James could potentially make it in the NFL.
"I think he should come on down," Mangini said. "I know he's pretty busy right now, but if he wants to give it a shot, the guy is gifted. He's competitive and tough. I'm sure whatever he applied himself to, he'd probably be good in baseball or soccer or swimming."
It's all very, very unlikely, of course. However, it is worth noting what James did last week.
Last Tuesday, the Heat forward practiced with his high school's football team. James was in full pads as he caught some passes while making a trip back home to Ohio, according to a Cleveland TV station.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound James was an all-state wide receiver in high school at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron.
