Liverpool FC has announced a new partnership with Laureate Online Education, the totally Internet-based branch of the University of Liverpool.

Under the terms of the partnership, Laureate Online, which offers postgraduate degrees in a variety of fields, will be able to advertise through LFC channels and programming.

"This partnership brings together two of the city of Liverpool's great institutions, with a combined history spanning over 200 years," said managing director Ian Ayre.

"We are honored to have such a world class educational institution on Liverpool FC's doorstep, and are honored to be working in partnership with Laureate."

As managing director, Ayre is tasked with expanding Liverpool's brand and economic capabilities off the pitch, with the partnership between LFC and Laureate being his most recent project.

Ayre, who succeeded Christian Purslow as managing director in March, played a major role in securing the club's sponsorship agreement with Standard Chartered while serving as commercial director under Purslow.
