Luis Suarez allegedly launched a barrage of racial abuse against Patrice Evra during Saturday's 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Manchester United. The Liverpool star denies the allegations and the FA will investigate the claims, according to the Daily Mirror.
"The Football Association has this evening been made aware of an incident that is alleged to have occurred during the Liverpool versus Manchester United fixture at Anfield today." The governing body said.
"Referee Andre Marriner was made aware of an allegation at the end of the fixture and has subsequently reported this to The FA. The FA will now begin making enquiries into the matter."
The players were involved in a running verbal confrontation during the second half and had to be seperated and spoken to by Marriner at one point. Evra was booked in the 65th minute for continuous dissent.
After the game, Evra told French Television channel Canal+, "There are cameras, and you can see him say a certain word to me at least ten times. No place for that in 2011. The referee is aware of what was said."
Suarez denies Evra's allegations of racial abuse. A club spokesman said, "The first anyone at Liverpool knew about these allegations was when Kenny Dalglish was called into the referee's room about 20 minutes after the game.
"We have since checked with Luis Suarez and he categorically denies using any language that could be interpreted in that way."
