FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots offensive lineman Marcus Cannon made his debut at practice Tuesday after starting his rookie season on the non-football injury list.

Cannon, a fifth-round pick out of TCU, found out he had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma just days before April's draft. Cannon, who played tackle in college but might convert to guard in the NFL, was considered a second-round prospect prior to the news of his illness.

Cannon can practice for up to three weeks before the Patriots must decide to either promote him to the active roster or place him on injured reserve.

Quarterback Tom Brady, left tackle Matt Light and cornerback Ras-I Dowling returned to practice after missing both sessions during the bye week.

Linebacker Dane Fletcher was the only player missing from practice. Fletcher's injury is unknown, and the Patriots don't have to release a practice report until Wednesday.

Prior to practice, the Patriots added cornerback Malcolm Williams to the practice squad. The Patriots selected Williams in the seventh round of April's draft. Williams was released Aug. 29 and hadn't played with anyone since.

The Patriots' 23rd practice of the regular season, not including walkthroughs, was held in shorts and shells for the 18th time.
