Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had his left ankle stepped on by offensive tackle Will Svitek during the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Lions and bend in a way it shouldn't. It was the type of injury that makes your stomach hurt.

However, the Boston College product was able to walk to the locker room under his own power, and just minutes later, returned to the field in a jog. Backup quarterback Chris Redman came into the game for one play before Ryan was ready.

After an incompletion on his first play back, Ryan fired a 49-yard pass to Harry Douglass on third down. It set the Falcons up for a field goal.
