Mexican Band ‘Recyclation’ Invents Instruments From Trash to Play for Pan-Am Games Fans

Mexican Band 'Recyclation' Invents Instruments From Trash to Play for Pan-Am Games FansThe 9- to 15-year-olds who make up the band “Recyclation” don’t play tunes with trumpets or drums. They have invented their own instruments — transforming plastic bottles, cartons, hoses and broomsticks into beautiful music.

The band performs traditional Mexican music in the historic district of Guadalajara, site of the Pan American games. The kids have been playing at the plaza for over a year, and they’ve become a popular band in the area.

Crowds of people gather to watch one of the best shows in the city. The kids invite them to enjoy their unique music on their peculiar instruments, and they offer a few coins.

With the donations, the band hopes to have traditional instruments of its own someday.
