Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is getting a reputation in the NFL whether he likes it or not. Judging by his comments Monday, he really doesn't care.
Suh and teammate Cliff Avril were accused of taunting Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan on Sunday when Ryan was injured during Atlanta's 23-16 win over the Lions. The alleged taunting, which Suh has denied, upset Falcons receiver Roddy White.
"I lost a whole lot of respect for 90 [Suh] today, and also 92 [Avril], the [expletive] they were doing when Matt got hurt," White said on Sunday after the game. "That was unacceptable."
Suh caught wind of those comments on Monday, and he had a pretty strong response for White, according to Pro Football Talk.
"Do I need Rodney White's respect? No. Leave it at that," Suh told Dave Burkett of the Detroit Free Press.
Of course, White's first name is "Roddy," not "Rodney." And while it's unclear whether or not Suh knows that, the comment certainly speaks to the way Suh feels.
Suh also insisted that he was not taunting Ryan, and the Lions defensive lineman also turned things back around on the Falcons.
"I'm not even near their quarterback so how am I going to trash talk somebody that has a medical staff that's all around him?
"To me, it's karma. For all the bad stuff they've done in the past, their offensive lineman hurt their own quarterback. So I'll leave it at that."
Suh was also flagged for a personal foul when he grabbed Ryan's facemask on a play earlier in the game.
