Sunday's postgame tussle between 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has generated plenty of discussion. But despite its controversial nature, neither coach will be disciplined by the NFL.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed this in a statement to NFL Network Insider Jason La Canfora on Monday, according to NFL.com.
"Fortunately, there was no fighting and thus no basis for a fine," Aiello said. "However, both coaches told [NFL vice president of football operations] Ray Anderson today that their postgame conduct was wrong and will not happen again. We believe their response is the correct one and that their postgame conduct going forward will be more appropriate."
The skirmish broke out after Harbaugh and Schwartz met at midfield for their postgame handshake. Harbaugh has since taken the blame, saying that he believes he shook Schwartz's hand too hard.
Harbaugh was visibly fired up following his team's victory over the previously unbeaten Lions, and he has since said that he won't apologize for showing such emotion.
