Pittsburgh’s Arron Asham has a reputation in the NHL as someone who can hold his own when the gloves have been dropped. Washington’s Jay Beagle? Not so much.

That didn’t stop the Capitals winger from going after Asham in a spirited game between the two rivals on Thursday night. What ensued may not have been the best fight of the young season, but it was certainly the most memorable.

After Beagle was able to throw a couple of right hands, Asham took over in the bout. All he needed was two big right hands to send Beagle to the ice where he lay motionless for a few seconds.

The Washington medical staff tended to Beagle as Asham (hopefully regrettably) celebrated his knockout. Beagle, who wears a visor, was bloodied in the fight perhaps as a result of the visor. As he skated off for repairs, he appeared to pull out his own tooth

Also, to Asham’s credit, he did tap his stick on the penalty box glass as Beagle skated off.
