Red Sox Decline Team Options on Pitchers Scott Atchison, Dan Wheeler

The Red Sox on Monday declined team options on right-handed pitchers Scott Atchison and Dan Wheeler, general manager Ben Cherington announced in a news release.

Atchison, 35, was with the Red Sox six times in 2011, making 17 appearances and posting a 1-0 record wtih a 3.26 ERA. He also pitched in 36 games with Pawtucket, where he went 6-2 with a 2.64 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 61 1/3 innings. He will remain on the club's 40-man roster.

Wheeler, 33, appeared in 47 games with the Red Sox, posting a 2-2 record and 4.38 ERA.
