We get it, Winnipeg. You're excited to have a hockey team back. Now, it appears that even the Canadian government is joining in on the celebration surrounding the Jets' return to Canada.

Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper and the Royal Canadian Mint unveiled commemorative 50-cent coins created with the Winnipeg Jets logo that will sell for either $14.95 or, for one of 15,000 limited edition pure silver versions, $94.95 (Canadian dollars, of course).

"The Mint is devoted to producing coins which celebrate Canada's history, culture and values," said Canadian Mint president Ian Bennett. "Mint employees wish the Winnipeg Jets a remarkable 2011-2012 season."

"Remarkable" might be a bit of a stretch, if the 5-1 shellacking the Jets took from the Canadiens in their home opener is any indication. But at the very least, the Jets logo looks a lot cooler than what's usually on the back of the 50-cent pieces.
