Tom Hicks, George Gillette Still Pursuing Legal Action Over Alleged ‘Epic Swindle’ in Sale of Liverpool FC

Former Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillette are not done pursuing legal action against the sale of Liverpool FC.

Despite losing several court battles last year on both sides of the Atlantic, the duo is planning to continue with new legal action against current owners Fenway Sports Group, former lenders Royal Bank of Scotland, former chairman Martin Broughton, and current Liverpool board members.

Hicks, who must have a tremendous sense of irony, famously dubbed his forced sale an "epic swindle," when ownership of LFC transferred to FSG in October of last year.

At the time, Hicks and Gillette vowed to continue fighting against the sale through any and all legal avenues, but have thus far proved unsuccessful in that aim.

The pair spent their reign in charge destroying the club from the top down, as fighting between themselves soon trickled down and permeated the entire organization. In addition, the pair's leveraged buyout of the club in 2007 meant that hundreds of millions of dollars in debt was tacked onto the club's shoulders, and promises of a brand new stadium never got beyond pencil and paper.
