Tony Romo Brushes Off Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones on Sideline During Three-Interception Performance

Tony Romo had a bad day Sunday. Anyone can tell that by looking at the stat sheet and the second-half lowlights. Three interceptions and a blown 24-point lead will leave any quarterback feeling a little sour.

He was in no mood for a helpful pat on the back or constructive criticism from his owner, and his reaction when he was approached by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made that obvious.

As Jones approached him on the sideline, Romo can be seen trying to ignore the team boss in a video on NFL.com. When Jones tugs on Romo’s jersey, the Cowboys quarterback yanks away his arm and walks away.

This is difficult to type, but I’ll give it a shot: I’m with Romo on this one. (Whew. That was tough. It’s not easy defending or agreeing with a member of “America’s Team,” especially one as annoying as Romo.)

It’s great that Jones is emotionally invested in his team, but the on-the-sideline habit ran its course long ago. No matter how poorly Romo played, he knew he was bad; he didn’t need the boss nagging him about it on the bench.

On Monday, Romo did get some encouragement from someone who knows all about trying to live up to expecations in the Big D when Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki used Twitter to help encourage the Cowboys signal-caller.

You might want to stay on the ground, Tony. The boss is waiting for you on the sideline.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Do I really have to explain how I feel at 1-3? Do I really have to explain that to everyone here? It’s frustrating. I can’t put that into words.”
