FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork missed his first practice of the year Thursday, and running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis was absent for the first time of the regular season with a toe injury.

Green-Ellis was limited Wednesday with the toe issue, so it’s possible he could have suffered the injury at practice. Wilfork’s status was unclear, but will be revealed when the Patriots release Thursday’s injury report.

Linebacker Jerod Mayo (knee) and safety Josh Barrett (hamstring, thumb) were also absent. Mayo hasn’t practiced since injuring his knee in Week 4 against the Raiders. Barrett didn’t play Sunday against the Jets and hasn’t practiced this week.

Running back Danny Woodhead (ankle) and wide receiver Julian Edelman (ankle) crisply ran through receiving drills, making it look like they could be ready to return Sunday against the Cowboys after each missed the victory against the Jets.

The practice was held in full pads for the fifth time during the regular season, and it took place on the Gillette Stadium game field.

Prior to practice, the Patriots placed defensive lineman Mike Wright on injured reserve due to a concussion, and cornerback Phillip Adams took his place on the active roster. Adams practiced Thursday.
