Vote: Do You Think Theo Epstein Will Be Red Sox General Manager in 2012?There's been a lot of speculation recently as to whether or not Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein will return to the team for the 2012 season.

There have been reports that he would leave the organization for the right opportunity with a new organization. But there have been other reports stating that he's likely going to remain with the Red Sox.

Some people want to talk percentages, whether it be the chances of him returning or the chances of him leaving. Whatever the case may be, and whether Red Sox fans want to see another major change or not, it's obvious that Epstein's future is a hot topic and remains very much in the air.

The Sox have already made one major change this offseason, as Terry Francona will no longer manage the team. It came as a shock to many, but there was also some debate prior to his departure about whether or not he'd return in 2012.

Since becoming the Red Sox' general manager in 2002, Epstein has led the Sox to two World Series titles — in 2004 and 2007. He's also shown a great deal of aggressiveness in the trade market and on the free-agent market over the years.

Epstein temporarily left the Sox once, in 2005, when he resigned as general manager. But a few months later, he returned to his position, and the Red Sox promptly won the second World Series title of his tenure.

Rumors will continue to swirl until an official announcement is made either way regarding Epstein. Until that announcment comes, though, all we can do is speculate.
