The last time the Bruins and Canadiens met, Boston was down and out.
The Canadiens swept a home-and-home with their rivals from Boston, and the Bruins sat at 3-7-0, in last place.
Things have changed since then, as the Bruins are on an 8-0-0 run while heading into Montreal on Monday night. The Canadiens have played well but currently sit in last place in the Northeast Division with 21 points.
That’s not a bad sign for Montreal, though, as the entire division is separated by just three points. The Sabres and Maple Leafs, both of whom have cooled off after hot starts, have 24 points, and the Bruins and Senators have 22 points. Obviously, the division is very much up for grabs and is very competitive, as four of the five teams right now are in playoff position.
That will, of course, change. The Senators might not be good enough to sustain a season’s worth of success, and the Maple Leafs may be in the same boat. The Sabres may have the best goaltender in the world in Ryan Miller, but he hasn’t played like it (31st in goals-against average, 26th in save percentage).
