If you wanted to determine the best sports city in America, you could go a number of different routes. You could gauge by championships, which is a pretty cut-and-dry method, or by attendance, which is also a by-the-numbers approach. You could also try to estimate loyalty and passion, which is much harder to quantify and compare.

If you went by ticket prices, though, you'd have one easy answer: Boston.

SeatGeek, a website that analyzes ticket prices on the web, took a look at the average price for tickets in some of the biggest cities in the country, and Boston was deemed to have the most expensive seats.

While that's not great news for fans, necessarily, it's an indication of how badly fans want to see their teams play in person.

In Boston, the average ticket price for the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics is $118. Boston ranks first in MLB and the NHL and second in the NBA.

Just $5 behind is Chicago at $113, with New York in third at $112. Dallas' average ticket price is $102, with Philadelphia rounding out the top five at $97.

Check out some graphs below from SeatGeek, which prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Boston is the best.
