The St. Louis Blues might be hoping that the Cardinals’ World Series-winning ways can rub off on them.

Game 7 winner Chris Carpenter stopped by the Blues’ practice on Thursday to lace up the skates. He even got to participate in some of the team’s drills and appears to have held his own pretty well.

The team gave him his own locker, uniform and even let him wear his usual jersey number, 29. Carpenter might have had a future as an NHL player, according to a few in attendance.

“Not bad for a guy who hasn’t played in a while,” Blues defenseman Barret Jackman told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “He’s got the size and he’s got a pretty good shot, so he might have been one of those power-play [defensemen] … you never know.”
