What if Tyler Seguin played for the Maple Leafs? What if the Phil Kessel trade never happened?

Bruins fans are sure to have wondered that themselves over the past year or so, but ESPN's John Buccigross is taking notice of Seguin now. Maybe it has something to do with the hot streak Seguin is on or the fact that the Bruins are well on their way to clawing out of the Eastern Conference basement thanks to Seguin's play.

In any case, Buccigross weighed in on Seguin's success this season in his latest blog entry for ESPN and summed it up with one word: luck.

Seguin is lucky that he plays on the same line as Patrice Bergeron. Seguin is lucky that the Bruins didn't expect him to contribute right away. Seguin was lucky to join a team on the brink of a championship.

Luck isn't considered a bad thing to Buccigross, and he added that it's not just luck that has allowed Seguin to succeed. There's been a lot of skill and hard work involved too, something that Buccigross almost unwillingly admits.

"Could [Seguin] have done it with the Maple Leafs?" he asks. "I say yes. Seguin is a very talented player with deep confidence."

But, Buccigross argues, it might have taken him a little longer to get there.

After seeing his play during the early part of this season, it boggles the mind to think that Seguin wouldn't be a star no matter where he ended up.

But, if we're being perfectly honest here, the Bruins are lucky to have Seguin. Not the other way around.
