Glen Johnson Says Home Improvement Key to Liverpool's Top-Four QuestGlen Johnson thinks an improved home form will drive Liverpool toward its goal of a top-four finish. He told LiverpoolFC.tv that Sunday’s win at Chelsea boosted the players who are looking to match their Anfield displays with their road performances.

“Normally a team’s best form is at home, but as long as we can start picking up a few more points at home and doing what we are doing away then we won’t be too far away,” Johnson said.

Liverpool has taken 10 points from its six home English Premier League games this season. It has won two of those games and endured frustrating draws against Sunderland, Manchester United and Swansea City.

Away from Anfield, the Reds have earned 12 points from six games. Wins at Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea convince the Liverpool and England fullback that the Reds’ are far from being a top team.

“We haven’t been playing badly at home,” he said. “We’ve created some fantastic chances and if we’d taken one of them in a few games then we’d have nine or 10 more points and it would make it a whole new ball game.

“We can take a lot of confidence from the result and performance against Chelsea and we are aiming for the top four — that’s what we are fighting for.”

Johnson and Liverpool will enjoy the aftermath of the win at Stamford Bridge for a few more hours, before shifting their focus to the upcoming game. League-leading Manchester City visits Anfield on Sunday. It will be the Reds’ toughest test so far this season. City is off to the best-ever start in the English Premier League, winning 11 of its first 12 games and earning 34 points.
