Paterno’s son, Scott Paterno, took to Twitter to refute a New York Times report that surfaced midday Tuesday saying the university was planning Paterno’s departure from Happy Valley.
“NYT report premature,” Scott Paterno tweeted on Tuesday. “No discussions about retirement with JVP.”
Scott Paterno also tweeted that the decision to cancel his father’s weekly news conference was that of school president Graham Spanier and not the 46-year head coach.
Paterno’s son gave an impromptu news conference of his own, however, on Tuesday afternoon, but offered little information on top of what he had already tweeted.
