Kenny Dalglish Credits LFC Players' Commitment, Joe Hart's Heroics as Keys to Manchester City DrawKenny Dalglish was beaming with pride after Liverpool played Manchester City to a 1-1 stalemate Sunday. Only Joe Hart's heroics in goal kept the Reds from willing themselves to victory against the English Premier League leaders, according to LiverpoolFC.tv.

"I don't think we could have asked for more," Dalglish said. "In terms of effort and commitment from the players, they were fantastic.

"City started the game better than us, I thought, and scored a goal just as we were getting a foothold in the game. We equalized quickly with a piece of good fortune but that's where the good luck ran out for us."

It seemed like the high-scoring visitors were going to pick Liverpool apart in the opening minutes. But the Reds settled down against their formidable opponents and the first 65 minutes were a stalemate in every sense of the word. Joleon Lescott's own goal cancelled Vincent Kompany's opener and Dalglish was delighted with what followed.

Liverpool has made its supporters suffer through many a second-half letdown at home games this season. Sunday's game was different. The Reds increasingly bossed the game as it approached its conclusion. It was an unfamiliar sight, given their stuttering home form this season.

But supporters' hopes for taking the full compliment of points were dashed by an all-too-familiar foe. Hart made a string of second half saves that preserved the draw for the wobbling City. Each of his saves (in the 78th, 88th and 93rd minutes) was more amazing than the last. He joins Michel Vorm, John Ruddy, David De Gea and Asmir Begovich as goalkeepers who have single-handedly kept Liverpool from winning games this season.

"We've come up against a goalkeeper who has done what three or four others have done here (this season)," Dalglish said. "He had a fantastic game. Eventually we'll come up against a goalkeeper who is not saving everything that hits him."
