"There are things that happen in football, things of the moment, which leave one feeling bad," Suarez reportedly said to soccer reporters in his native Uruguay.
"Now it is necessary to hope that this topic is decided and then the Manchester player and I are going to have to clear things up. Depending on which way the judgement goes, one of us will have to apologise."
Suarez and Evra were involved in a heated argument during the Oct. 15 game between Liverpool and Manchester United. Evra claims Suarez said something to him, "at least ten times," that was verbal abuse of a racist nature. He reported the LFC star to referee and the FA launched a subsequent inquiry into the matter. Suarez categorically denied the charges at the time and continues to do so.
"The English federation is going to have to clarify it with him because there is no proof at all that I have said something racist to him," Suarez said. "And I did not say it to him."
"There were two parts of the argument, one in Spanish and the other one in English. I did not insult him, it was just my way of expressing myself. I called him something that his own companions of Manchester say to him. Moreover, even they themselves were surprised by his reaction."
No reports exist that confirm exactly what was said.
Evra has not publicly commented on the case since the day of the game. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed that Evra wanted to pursue the charges against Suarez. The FA will not take kindly to Suarez discussing the matter before it concludes its investigation and reveals its findings.
