The Red Sox announced a number of personnel moves in the club's baseball operations department on Tuesday, including the promotion of Mike Hazen and Brian O'Halloran.
Hazen was promoted to vice president/assistant general manager. He had served as the Red Sox vice president of player development and amateur scouting since February, and spent the previous five seasons as Red Sox director of player development. He joined the organization in 2006.
O'Halloran has also been promoted to vice president/assistant general manager, after holding the role of vice president of baseball operations since February. He joined the Sox organization as a baseball operations assistant in 2002.
David Finley has also been promoted. He'll be the club's director of player personnel, while Zack Scott has been promoted to director of major league operations.
Allard Baird, meanwhile, will now serve as the vice president of player personnel after spending the 2011 season as the team's vice president of player personnel and professional scouting. Prior to joining the Red Sox organization in 2006, Baird spent 18 years in the Kansas City organization, holding the position of senior vice president/general manager from June 2000 to May 2006.
Raquel Ferreira and Ben Crockett have been promoted in the player development department, while Jared Porter, Eddie Romero and Galen Carr have been promoted in the scouting department.
Amiel Sawdaye has had his contract extended as Boston's director of amateur scouting, and he'll be entering his 11th season with the organization.
The Red Sox have also hired Bob McClure and David Keller to fill the role of special assignment scout/instructor and professional scout, respectively.
Sox GM Ben Cherington announced the moves.
"When I was offered the general manager position several weeks ago, I knew the best part of the job was the people I was going to get to work with every day," Cherington said. "These promotions and additions, along with the extraordinary level of talent we have throughout baseball operations, are a reflection of that."
