EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Patriots safety Patrick Chung will not play Sunday night against the Jets due to a foot injury that really limited his mobility during a pregame workout with the medical staff.

Without Chung, the Patriots will likely start James Ihedigbo and Sergio Brown at safety, while Ross Ventrone and Sterling Moore could come off the bench in an emergency situation.

Wide receiver Taylor Price (hamstring) is also inactive against the Jets, along with linebacker Brandon Spikes (knee), linebacker Dane Fletcher (thumb), running back Shane Vereen (not on injury report), offensive lineman Donald Thomas (not on injury report) and quarterback Ryan Mallett (not on injury report).

Tackle Nate Solder is active after suffering a concussion, and running back Kevin Faulk (knee), linebacker Jermaine Cunningham and defensive end Shaun Ellis (rib) return to the lineup after missing last week's game against the Giants. Cunningham had been a healthy scratch for the last two games.

Chung and Spikes are out for the second time this season. Fletcher is out for the third straight game. Price is out for the second straight week and the fifth time this season. Thomas is inactive for the third straight game. Vereen won't be in the lineup for the fourth time this season. Mallett is out for the sixth consecutive contest and the eighth time overall.
