FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots finished their work on the Giants on Monday and quickly turned all of their attention on the Jets.
The team went through its customary day-after routine and broke down the film for a couple of hours, split up into positional meetings and then packed up and moved on. With game tapes on the Jets in tow, they departed from Gillette Stadium and shifted their focus to their division rivals.
Monday's initial film session was tough on the eyes, particularly because it sounded like they took a lot of positives from the loss to the Giants.
"Very, very tough way to lose a game," Patriots safety James Ihedigbo said. "You play what you think is well enough to win for three and a half quarters, and you have that one drive where it gets away from you. You watch the tape. You learn from it. It's tough, but we must go on and move forward to what we've got is a big game this week — really big."
Both sides of the ball deserved proportionate shares of the blame for Sunday's loss, and running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis said everyone on offense has to take on more responsibility to build up their level of consistency.
"We've just all got to come out as individuals and just play better," Green-Ellis said. "Everybody has got to take more on themselves and play better."
And now, it's time for the second edition of the 2011 series with the Jets.
"Win, lose or draw, you've got to put the game behind you, and move onto the next week," Green-Ellis said. "That's kind of what we're doing now. We're moving onto the Jets."
The Patriots, Jets and Bills are all tied atop the division with 5-3 records, and they've all got one loss in divisional play, which makes this game even more important to start the second half.
"It's a big game, Sunday Night Football, AFC East, both teams 5-3, what more can you ask for?" Ihedigbo said. "[We're] rivals, this story's been written."
