Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman is in some hot water.

The backup wideout and special teamer has been charged with indecent assault.

The 25-year-old Edelman was due in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday, where he is to be arraigned on charges of indecent assault and battery, according to Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.

Police were called to the Storyville nightclub on Exeter Street in the Back Bay around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday after Edelman allegedly reached underneath the woman's costume and grabbed her below the waist. A man with the woman "saw the victim's face change into an expression of shock" when Edelman apparently groped her, police said in the report.

That man reportedly "threatened to beat [Edelman] up" before both he, Edelman and the woman were ejected from the bar. Edelman denied groping the woman, police said, but when the man and woman positively identified him, he was charged with indecent assault and battery but later posted bail and was released by police.

According to USLegal.com, "Indecent assault is an assault that is sexual in nature. Any person who has indecent contact with another or takes indecent liberties with a person without his or her consent is guilty of indecent assault. It is a sex crime."

Late Monday night, Edelman tweeted, "Happy Halloween might check out [Howl At The Moon] heard it's going to be good!"
