Sporting Lisbon Fans Set Fire to Benfica’s Stadium of Light After Derby Defeat (Video)

This time, Sporting Lisbon fans took it too far. They visited Benfica’s Stadium of Light for Saturday’s Lisbon derby and set fire to a section of the stadium following their team’s defeat.

Luckily, Lisbon’s bravest were able to confine the blaze to one section of the impressive stadium.

Benfica registered a tense 1-0 victory over its local rivals. Javi Garcia‘s goal put the Portuguese giants three points clear of Porto at the top of the Portuguese Liga ZON Sagres. Lisbon is in third, trailing Benfica by four points.

It is unknown what penalties Sporting Lisbon will face for the actions of its supporters.
